DVOC's 2019 Summer Opera Festival from Philadelphia
Carmen, in a production, updated to 1900, the era of Picasso and the dawn of moving pictures.
Stage Director, Theresa Seri has performed several roles in the opera, including the title role. That experience gives her an intimate vantage point from which to view this iconic work.
DVOC is excited to have professional Flamenco dancer and choreographer Anne Margaret O'Malley as a part of the production team and cast of the Company's 40th Anniversary Summer Concert Series production of Bizet's Carmen"
In her words: "Returning as a Choreographer and Featured Dancer in Bizet's "Carmen" is a Flamenco Artists Dream. I have enjoyed working with Stage Director Theresa Seri on creating authentic moments of spontaneous dance for the Corps de Ballet and movement for the Chorus. Working with the Delaware Valley Opera Company has been an extraordinary experience! I am always happy to use my flamenco skills to enhance performances or share my love of the Artform as a Teaching Artist."
The piano reduction of the score will be artfully interpreted by collaborative pianist Isaac Young.
